Switch / Field Technicians Kansas City, MO J.M. Neil is seeking Switch, Field and Installation Technicians in cities throughout the United States; Akron, Austin, Alexandria, Boston, Birmingham, Cape Coral, Charlotte, Detroit, Elkridge, Ellicott City, Hollywood, FL, Houston, Irving, Jacksonville, Little Rock, Louisville, Manhattan, Minneapolis, NY, Paterson, N.J, Philadelphia, Pittsburg, PA, Raleigh, San Antonio, Tampa, Yonkers, NY Field Technicians to develop proficiency in customer relations, basic electricity, basic electronics, basic telephony, radio principles for CDMA and iDEN, and basic principles of digital transmission, fiber communication, data communication, telephony terminology, industry standards, and on-line network control/maintenance systems. Serve as a technical reference point for other functions. Able to follow detailed method of procedures (MOP) and practices to perform routine maintenance on all radio interface equipment. Perform Service Assurance work on all radio interface network elements. Interpret the alarm conditions on the network to proactively identify and implement repairs and restoration plans to ensure minimal service disruption and impact to customer. Provide Service Delivery work installing new cell site equipment from channel card elements up to complete new cell site installs. Develop proficiency with use of relevant wireless tools and test equipment. Develop proficiency with inventory tools and procedures. Able to trouble shoot AC and DC power systems including tower light controllers. Meet expectations with regards to behavioral and administrative facets of the position. Basic Microwave principals OR as a Installation Technician Successful Technician will be responsible for installation and removal of network installation projects in switch room, regen, and PoP site environments. Must understand and follow detailed method of procedures (MOPS) and Safety MTCE Window requirements. Duties include but are not limited to installing / removing bays, shelves and circuit card assemblies from a wide variety of manufactures, installing / removing overhead cable racks as well as running and lacing Ethernet, fiber, and power cabling to include termination and testing. The B3 will be required to provide their own basic tool kit for installation of switching, optical and data products - All required calibrated tools will be provided. Requirements include: General knowledge of wireline/wireless equipment installation and basic testing methods and procedures (MOPs). General knowledge of operating principles of wireline, wireless and RF environments Ability to interpret and perform tasks outlined in MOPs, vendor documentation, technical specifications, network practices, engineering letters and job aids. Knowledge of telephony networks, include DS1, DS3, OC, and various IP networks Ability to identify all colors associated with telecommunications cable and equipment indicator lights. Dexterity to connect and disconnect various sizes and types of electronic connectors. Ability to work in overhead rack or grid for extended periods of time pulling long lengths of heavy cables Ability to work outside of normal business hours (ie: shift work) as dictated by project requirements. Ability to accept project work in other locations outside of home market. Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50lbs independently and up to 90 lbs with assistance as necessary Ability to climb ladders and steep staircases. Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in stressful and demanding work environments. A valid driver's license is required. Reliable transportation is required. Working knowledge of computer hardware/software fundamentals with skills and knowledge in Microsoft office product lines, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook. Written and verbal communication and organizational skills Travel required. OR Installation Site Team Leader /Field Engineer The Field Engineer Will be responsible for installation, management and limited commissioning of network installation projects, including maintaining electronic records (i.e. ETS, Atlas. email coordination, CMC, on network), in switch room, regen, and PoP site environments. Must understand and follow detailed method of procedures (MOPS) and Safety MTCE Window requirements. Duties include but are not limited to installing / removing bays, shelves and circuit card assemblies from a wide variety of manufactures, installing / removing overhead cable racks as well as running and lacing Ethernet, fiber, and power cabling to include termination and testing. The successful Site Team Leader will be required to provide their own basic tool kit for installation of switching, optical and data products - All required calibrated tools will be provided The successful Site Team Leader will be required to provide their own windows compatible laptop and printer reuqied to print email's, engineering documents and project files. Requirements include: In-depth knowledge of wireline/wireless equipment installation and testing methods and procedures (MOPs). In-depth knowledge of operating principles of wireline, wireless and RF environments Ability to interpret and perform tasks outlined in MOPs, vendor documentation, technical specifications, network practices, engineering letters and job aids. OR Switch Technicians JM Neil is seeking individuals having limited telecommunications or electronic industry experience with ability to receive, analyze, monitor, and resolve problems within the wireless and/or wireline network in a timely manner with assistance from higher level technicians or manager. Successful Technicians will perform job duties that are well defined, specific, and task oriented, requiring a very short training period. Additionally will have: Ability to organize information, manipulate data, prepare basic reports and perform administrative work under general supervision. Will perform on-call duties, night shift rotations, and support weekend work and special events when situations demand. • This position may require occasional travel between the different switch facilities as needed. CDMA, iDEN, Long Distance and international voice and data switching platforms, VMS, SMS, STP/SS7, HLR, DACS, Transport, Routers. AC/DC power plant, Test Equipment for RF and transport (DS0 through OC-192) Carrier add experience a plus Critical Thinking: Performs straightforward, repetitive duties from detailed instructions involving little variation, with standard practices or procedures. Requirements include: Specialized advanced vocational skills acquired on or off the job, typically gained through a combination of education and relevant experience, totaling 3 to 4 years of equivalent industry experience. Good written/oral communication skills are required. Basic proficiency with MS Office suite. Able to lift 25lbs Travel required.
